Background
Ms. Denson is currently the director of Women’s Health with the Mississippi Department of Health. She has devoted
more than 29 years of service to the agency. She has served in various capacities of public health, including Director of Disparity
Elimination, Director of Minority Affairs, Office Systems Advisor for all clerical staff with the agency, Immunization Representative for
11 counties in District V, Hinds County Office Manager (which had 11 clinics), Director of the Mary C. Jones Clinic, Public Health Advisor
for the Sexually Transmitted Disease Program, and a clerk in Vital Records and Statistics. She has been awarded two of the highest awards
with the Mississippi Public Health Association in 2000 (Felix Underwood) and 2002 ( Jon Vic Bailey) for outstanding public health and community
service.

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (Cum Laude) from Jackson State University

Instrumental in Obtaining funding along with the Mississippi Medical Association and Informational Quality Healthcare
to form a partnership with private physicians and health department staff to care for diabetes patients in Sunflower County
Obtained funding and coordinated the MDH’s State Plan To Eliminate Racial & Ethnic Health Care Disparities
Served as Registrar and Chair for the Annual Jackson State University Conference on Eliminating Disparities in MS
Served on the former U.S. President Clinton’s Committee for the MS Delta Project
