Mississippi Tobacco Control Network (MTCN)

Approximately 4700 Mississippi adults die each year from their own smoking.

Smoking kills more people than alcohol, AIDS, car crashes, illegal drugs, murders, and suicides combined.

A Message from the Chair

MTCN Mission

The mission of the Mississippi Tobacco Control Network is to bring together tobacco control advocacy groups in an effort to foster collaboration, maximize resources and improve communications to reduce the burden of tobacco use in Mississippi through policy change, education and public awareness.

The Mississippi Tobacco Control Network was organized in 2005 to unite groups interested in tobacco control with a goal of working together to reduce death, disease and disability related to tobacco use in Mississippi. The impact that tobacco has on the lives of our citizens is truly devastating. Tobacco use remains the number one preventable cause of death in the state. We have made a commitment to work as a coalition and as individual members toward educating our citizens and policy makers about the health and economic impact of tobacco use.

On behalf of the MTCN, thank you for visiting our Web site to learn more about our efforts. We welcome your ideas, assistance and participation as we continue our work toward a tobacco-free and healthier Mississippi.
