Background
Mike received his Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts with a major in criminal justice from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Mike also received a certificate of professional account from Belhaven College. Mike began his career at the Division of Medicaid
in 1981 and last held the position of Bond Advisory Director. He has held positions as Deputy Commissioner of Finance for the
Department of Corrections, Deputy Director of the Mississippi Gaming Commission, Deputy State Personnel Director for the
Mississippi Personnel Board, Policy Advisory for Governor Fordice, and most recently Director of the Bond Advisory Division
of the Department of Finance and Administration before joining the Department of Health. Mike is a graduate of Leadership Jackson, State Executive
Development Institute and Global Leaders of the South. Mike currently serves as chairman of Health and Safety Training for the
Central Mississippi Chapter of the American Red Cross and is a lifeguard instructor trainer.
