Director of Health Administration

Position Opening: DH OFFICE DIRECTOR, HEALTH ADMINISTRATION

The Mississippi State Department of Health seeks a critical member of its leadership team to oversee all aspects of the agency's administrative and support functions, including finance and accounts; IT services; human resources; vital records, facilities and property management, field operations; and policy and evaluation. DH Office Director, Health Administration regularly interfaces with the State Legislature, Board of Health, State Health Officer and many key state & federal agencies. The position is heavily involved in the agency's strategic planning and all aspects of it's daily operations.

Candidates must have a current working knowledge of Mississippi State Government administrative procedures and both state and federal personnel and accounting regulations.

Professional certifications are a plus.

The minimum qualifications for this position classification are:

  • A Master's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university;
  • Nine (9) years of work experience related to the described duties, five (5) years of which must have included line or project administrative or advanced technical supervision.

OR

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university;
  • Ten (10) years of work experience related to the described duties, five (5) years of which must have included line or project administrative or advanced technical supervision.

Director of Professional Enrichment

Position Opening: DIVISION DIRECTOR II, Professional Enrichment (Training)

The Mississippi State Department of Health is seeking an experienced and performance-focused individual to lead its Professional Enrichment organization. This position will report to the Director of Human Resources and will supervise a team of eight to ten training professionals.

Professional Enrichment manages the training and other activities associated with improving and enhancing the agency's workforce performance.

In addition to coordinating employee training, the division conducts training and coordinates travel requests involving any training events and all out-of-state travel. Professional Enrichment is also available to provide technical assistance in selecting contract trainers, reviewing training materials, and determining employee training needs.

Division Director II candidates must be able to demonstrate relevant experience and proficiency in:

  • Managing an effective training organization, preferably in MS State Gov't
  • Developing flexible training and development plans, including an effective orientation for new employees and training programs based on sound learning theory built around needs
  • Compiling and analyzing salient needs assessment data
  • Creating an ongoing process for the identification of and systematic plan to meet
    • workforce development needs
    • evaluation of the effectiveness of training and training plans

The minimum qualifications for this position classification are:

  • A Master's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Six (6) years of special experience as defined below, two (2) years of which must have been in training administration or advanced supervision.

OR

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university;
  • Seven (7) years of special experience defined below, two (2) years of which must have been in training administration or advanced supervision.

Special Experience:

  • Employment must have been in an administrative, professional capacity in an area of work related to the functional responsibility of the division in which the position exists. Work experience must have included supervising and coordinating a variety of functions.
